Mail Server Problems
Monday, May 24, 2010 9:11 PM
During the course of the day we have been noticing an increasing number of issues with one of our mail servers (avon.redithosting.co.uk).

Any customer that has e-Mail accounts located on this server may have noticed periods on intermittent or no connection to this server.

We believe that this is due to a problem with the application software that is running the POP3 and IMAP services, we have been trying to fix this issue during the course of the day but without success. We are now at the stage where we will be undertaking an emergency backup of this system and moving the service to a new platform.

We will endeavor to keep the current mail system running as long as possible and keep down time to a minimum as to reduce any loss of e-Mail and service.

We will update this notice again with more detail as we progress through this problem.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused any of our customers.

############ UPDATE ###########
###### 24th May 2010 - 2341hrs ######
#############################

The mail server has now been returned to full service.
After a full investigation we believe that this issue was due to a database error behind the e-Mail storage platform.
The mySQL Database and e-Mail software have both been updated as a result.

If any customer experiences any issues with your e-Mail service please contact our support team.
